Cologne Cathedral and More

The temperarinous of travel often intensifies
Friendships and turns it into intimacy.
But this is fatal for someone with a train to catch.

We took the train from Unna and went to Cologne and this is what we saw!

The great Cologne Cathedral.

And this is what we saw inside.

This is what we saw up high in the sanctuary

This is what we saw even higher in the sanctuary.
Trust me, I could show you countless photos of the inside of this amazing cathedral.

There is the golden case with the purported remains of the Three Wisemen. It was the attraction for pilgrims to come and worship and see something amazing and then they would give alms and then this Cathedral had something that another towns cathedral did not have.

The bones of the Three Wisemen are the famous icons of the Cologne Cathedral.

Of course we had to climb the inside, winding tower steps and we saw this along the way.

Gracie required the proper photo-angle.

The spiral stairs were both stone and metal. And we walked about 600 steps up....and coincidentally it was about 600 down.

Once we reached the end of the tower steps, we could walk around the fenced in tower walkway and try some photos.

The Rhine through the fences of the steeple tower.

And only to prove that I too, made the journey.

Back in the town of Kamen, we spend the night in the church hall...though this is a small building across the street.

German Bratwurst prepared by the church people.

Late at night in the church....we lingered as we talked and yawned.

More talking.

A wonderful day!

Peace,   Bob
